CSF Scholar Jessica Berlus Receives Acceptance to Boston College

CSF Scholar Jessica Berlus is delighted to have been accepted into early decision at Boston College, Class of 2028.
Intelligent, hardworking, and respectful are three words to describe Jessica. While at Malden Catholic, Jessica has taken the initiative to strengthen her leadership skills by creating a space for people to have conversations about social justice and current issues in society through the Get Real club. She is a young woman who shows commitment through her schoolwork and curricular activities.
During her time at Malden Catholic High School, Jessica has continued to show growth in all her classes, especially her sciences classes. She has continued to move up a level every year since Sophomore year, showing great strength in her discipline to strive for success in the science subject.
Jessica challenges herself academically by enrolling in rigorous courses during her senior year. Knowing that she wants to pursue a career in nursing/health sciences, she enrolled in AP Biology and Anatomy and Physiology as her electives to explore the fundamentals and foundations of the human body.
Throughout her high school career, Jessica has made first honors every quarter since freshman year, was inducted to the National Honors Society, and earned an award for co-founding the social justice club at Malden Catholic. These are all well-deserved distinctions.
Outside of her academic calendar at Malden Catholic, Jessica is a multi-sport athlete. She has been on the high school’s cross-country, indoor track, and outdoor track team. Starting her junior year, she was captain for both the indoor and outdoor track teams.
With hopes of becoming a NICU nurse, Jessica applied for an internship at Bringham and Women’s hospital and has been assisting the hospital as a transporter since the summer of her junior year.
While maintaining academic excellence and being involved with the MC community, Jessica has large responsibilities when she gets home. A lot of the days, she helps take care of her grandmother, who lives with her family.
In addition to all her school, work, and home responsibilities, Jessica has also been involved with the mayor’s office over the summer and interned with MIT, working on projects that perform research in the STEM field.
